There are plenty of places where adults tell children to stop dreaming and come back to reality. Walt Disney World is definitely not one of them.
In Orlando, Florida, the world of fairy tales, famous characters, thrilling rides and spectacular shows comes together to create a holiday experience unlike almost anywhere else. For families, couples and even grown-ups travelling without children, Walt Disney World continues to turn ordinary holidays into memorable adventures.
The magic begins long before visitors enter a park. There is the excitement of planning which attractions to visit, deciding where to eat and trying to fit an enormous list of must-see experiences into a few days. Then comes the moment of arriving and seeing Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom — when even the most practical traveller may suddenly feel like a child again.
Walt Disney World Resort includes four major theme parks: Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Each offers a different experience, from classic Disney stories and character encounters to futuristic attractions, movie-inspired adventures and encounters with wildlife.
Of course, no Disney trip would be complete without the rides. Some are gentle enough for younger visitors, while others are designed to make even confident adults question their life choices as the vehicle suddenly drops, spins or launches forward.
Food is another important part of the experience. Visitors can choose from quick-service meals, themed restaurants, snacks and treats inspired by Disney characters and different cultures. And yes, walking around with a giant Mickey-shaped snack is practically part of the holiday uniform.
What makes Walt Disney World particularly special, however, is the attention to detail. Music, decorations, costumes, architecture and entertainment are carefully designed to create a different atmosphere throughout the resort. Even waiting for an attraction can become part of the experience.
The resort can certainly be busy, and planning is useful, especially during popular travel periods. Comfortable shoes are also strongly recommended because a magical day can involve a surprisingly large number of steps.
Yet perhaps the biggest attraction is something that cannot be measured by the number of rides or photographs taken. It is the feeling of being somewhere designed entirely around imagination.
At Walt Disney World, adults get permission to be children for a while, children get to meet characters they have only seen on screens, and families create stories they can laugh about for years.
And that may be the real reason the magic never gets old.
