Atmosphere Core Expands into Europe with Opening of Borgo Monchiero Heritage in Italy

International hospitality company Atmosphere Core is set to make its European debut with the opening of Borgo Monchiero Heritage by Atmosphere on July 16, 2026, in Italy’s renowned Langhe region of Piedmont. The luxury boutique property represents a significant milestone for the company as it expands beyond its established presence in the Maldives.

Nestled in the province of Cuneo, the new hotel occupies a beautifully restored 18th-century monastery overlooking the rolling hills of Langhe, a UNESCO World Heritage landscape celebrated for its vineyards, historic villages, and world-famous gastronomy. The restoration preserves the building’s historic character while introducing modern hospitality standards designed to offer guests a unique cultural experience.

The property features 25 elegantly designed guest rooms that blend historic architecture with contemporary comfort. In addition to luxury accommodation, Borgo Monchiero Heritage offers fine dining inspired by the culinary traditions of Piedmont, wellness facilities, event spaces, and curated cultural experiences that showcase the region’s rich heritage.

The project was developed by property owners Franco Giampetruzzi and Gian Maria Debenedetti, whose vision was to transform the historic monastery into a destination that celebrates Italian history, art, and hospitality while preserving its architectural legacy.

Borgo Monchiero Heritage is the second property to join Atmosphere Core’s Heritage by Atmosphere collection, reflecting the company’s growing focus on restoring and operating landmark heritage destinations. The opening also marks the hospitality group’s first venture into the European market, signaling its ambitions to expand its international portfolio beyond its successful luxury resorts in the Maldives.
