Before his heinous murder, the municipal mayor of Mexico attended a meeting by himself.

The security minister of Mexico stated on Tuesday about a murder that has rocked the nation. The mayor of Chilpancingo, the state capital of Guerrero, had gone to an out-of-town meeting by himself before he was assassinated.
Alejandro Arcos, of Mexico’s biggest opposition group, had barely taken office six days before. Photos of a decapitated head on top of a pick-up truck that appeared to be Arcos’s went viral on Sunday on WhatsApp and in Mexican media.

The horrific crime occurred just a few days before newly elected President Claudia Sheinbaum announced her security plan to tackle violent crime.
At a press conference, Omar Garcia Harfuch, the minister of security, stated that an inquiry had shown Arcos drove his pickup vehicle out of Chilpancingo without a driver or an escort and toward the neighboring town of Petaquillas.
Arcos had not requested security protection from the federal government, Garcia Harfuch added.

“What is certain is that he was traveling alone to a designated meeting. A village lost contact, and the mayor’s death was discovered hours later, according to Garcia Harfuch.

When a reporter asked the minister who Arcos was meeting with, the minister said the matter was still under investigation and refused to comment.
“There is a lot of information on this subject that we must guard for the sake of the investigation,” Harfuch stated.
