Urinary Tract Infections: Signs and symptoms plus management

Urinary tract infections are common amongst the population. Signs and symptoms include frequent urination, burning micturation, dysuria and urinary urgency.

Urinary tract infections may involve your urethra, ureters, urinary bladder or kidneys.
And are more common amongst women due to their shorter urethra. Men tend to have them after sexual intercourse.

The infection occurs as a result of bacteria entering your urinary tract. Management involves antibiotics followed by antipyretics. Patients with UTIs are also advised to drink lots of water to counter fluid loss or dehydration.
